Muslim Essentials II
Muslim Essentials Year 2 is exclusively for graduates of Muslim Essentials Year 1. This advanced program deepens the study of the fundamental disciplines (farḍ al-‘ayn) of Islamic scholarship, building on the foundational knowledge from Year 1. It offers a comprehensive exploration of Islam’s core sciences, empowering participants to further engage with their faith and fulfil personal obligations.

Our curriculum is designed to guide students through a clear and purposeful progression of core Islamic sciences and supportive subjects each term. From ʿAqīdah and Sīrah, to Fiqh, Qurʾānic Studies and beyond, each subject is thoughtfully structured to build both foundational knowledge and practical understanding.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of Year 2, students will:
- Strengthen their understanding of core Islamic beliefs, with particular focus on the problem of philosophical skepticism and its implication for belief.
- Deepen their engagement with the Qur’an and Sunnah, through reflective tafsir, foundational Qur’anic sciences, and an in-depth study of the character and legacy of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
- Apply Islamic legal and ethical principles to key areas of life including family and finance, drawing on both classical rulings and contemporary relevance.
- Explore the development of Islamic civilisation, examining major empires, intellectual movements, and the ethical frameworks that shaped Muslim societies.
- Critically engage with present-day realities, using Islamic epistemology and ethics to navigate contemporary issues and contribute meaningfully to community reform and renewal.
- Undertake guided research into a topic of personal and academic interest, developing the skills to analyse, present, and apply Islamic knowledge in diverse and creative formats
