Mufti Khalid was born in Brazil to Pakistani parents and raised in Australia. His late father, Maulana Gul Saeed Shah, was a respected Aalim and Imam. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems from Monash University, he dedicated himself to Islamic studies at Darul Ulum Melbourne, where he completed the six-year Aalim course in 2009 under the guidance of his father. During this time, he also obtained a Master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages).
He later pursued advanced Islamic scholarship, completing the Mufti course with Al-Balagh Academy (UK), specializing in the issuance of fatwas within both the Hanafi and Hanbali madhhabs. Currently, he continues to deepen his expertise in the Hanbali madhhab under the mentorship of Shaykh Dr. Faris bin Falih al-Khazraji, originally from Mosul, Iraq, and now based in Konya, Turkey.
Mufti Khalid is dedicated to the revival and expansion of classical Islamic education in Australia, particularly through the establishment of maktabs and madrasas. He is the founder and principal of Kashiful Uloom, where he teaches daily, and serves as the Imam and Khatib at UMMA Centre in Doncaster East, overseeing its maktab and leading adult classes. Additionally, he has taught courses for institutions including Al-Balagh Academy (UK), WISE English (UK), PGCC (Australia), and Melbourne Muslim Seminary (Australia).
A committed scholar and educator, he has also translated and published four books, available on Amazon.
