Sham'ail Tirmidhi
Dr. Saied Altabaa was born in Syria, raised in Iraq, and later migrated to Jordan, where he embarked on his Quranic learning journey. After moving to Australia, he pursued Islamic studies alongside mainstream education, earning dual bachelor’s degrees in Business and Computer Engineering, followed by a master’s in Cybersecurity. In 2020, he completed a diploma, master’s, and PhD in teaching Arabic and Quran to non-native speakers.
For over 16 years, Dr. Saied has been actively engaged in community service, contributing to Islamic student societies, establishing weekend schools, organizing Quran competitions, conducting leadership training courses, and delivering Friday sermons. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he expanded his outreach by training local imams in the Pacific Islands through the Khateeb Program.
Having lived in Melbourne, Sydney, and Bendigo, he has provided essential services to children, youth, and families. He currently serves as the principal of Virgin Mary Arabic School and has held leadership positions such as Deputy Director of Al-Salam Arabic Language School and Founder/Director of Parramatta Arabic School. As a preacher and khateeb, he has spearheaded initiatives like the Da’wah Table project and Open Mosque Day. Additionally, he co-founded the Tilawah Program to train Quran teachers and serves as the Technical Director of international Quran competitions.
Dr. Saied holds several Ijazaat in Hadith, continues his Quranic studies, and remains dedicated to serving the Muslim community through education, outreach, and Da’wah efforts.
