Clay Gehrke was born and raised in New York, USA. After taking his shahada in 2004, Ustadh Clay has spent extensive time dedicated to learning and teaching the Holy Quran. He has taught in many Islamic institutions in Australia and is currently leading the Al Fajr program in Melbourne. He has completed half of his Ijaza and looks to complete the remainder in due course. He has extensive knowledge of the Science of Tajwīd and is an avid learner of the Arabic language.
Among many others, Ustadh Clay has studied the Quran with Doctor Mahmoud Hussein, Sheikh Abdul Qadir Al Uthman, Sheikh Mutassem Al Jarrah, Sheikh Ahmed Shukry, Sheikh Rabee Al Dimyatee, Sheikh Abdulla Al Hawari, and Sister Rasha (Tarteel).
