Academic Background
Born and raised in Melbourne, Sheikh Salim Ahmad Mauladdawila completed his primary to tertiary education locally. After initially studying Computer Science at RMIT and later Agricultural Sciences at the University of Melbourne, Sheikh Salim developed a thirst for the pursuit of true knowledge which led him back to his ancestral roots in the Southern Hadramaut region of Yemen. There, Sheikh Salim spent over 10 years studying the Islamic Sciences and had the opportunity to complete a number of traditional texts in the fields of Jurisprudence (Fiqh), Hadith, Creed, and the Qurānic sciences. He has been granted numerous Ijāzāt (Authorised license to teach) from multiple scholars permitting him to teach the Islamic Sciences.
After returning to Melbourne in 2017, Sheikh Salim initially served the local Muslim Community in a pastoral care and mentoring role. He is currently employed as a teacher of Islamic Studies at a local Islamic College.
Sheikh Salim continues to teach on a regular basis with various community organisations and is the Scholar in Residence at Wayfarer’s Lantern.
